I am very interested in burn injury-induced acute and chronic pain research for I have experienced that a person who has recovered from burn injury has poor sleep because of severe pain at the injured site.

When I saw the rat animal model used by this article's research group, I was astonished at the long-lasting mechanical allodynia not only on the injured side but also on the contralateral side, which is not seen in other animal models--not even in a bone cancer pain animal model! After reading the article, a question immediately emerged in my mind: Why does injury just at the end of the nerve cause more severe pain than that at the other site of injury?

In this article, I am excited to see a mouse model of burn injury pain, but the behavioral test in mice didn't show the same results as in rats.  I feel a little disappointed about that.

Figure 5 in this article shows an experiment named "Fos induction". This is my first time seeing this experiment, and I think it is a useful method to study pain, for it combines  pain behavior with protein expression.
