This is an excellent paper
This is an excellent paper investigating the analgesic effect of sucrose consumption under different conditions. The authors are able to demonstrate a robust and reproducible effect in adult male and female rats. It is of interest that this analgesic effect persists in a chronic pain state. It is not blocked by the opioid antagonist naloxone but is blocked by the CB1 partial agonist rimonabant, similar to the non-opioid form of placebo analgesia. The paper is well written and the bibliography contains many useful references.
