After leading PRF for nearly a decade, Neil Andrews pursues new projects while Gregory Carbonetti assumes the role of PRF senior manager.

Since joining PRF in February 2012, Neil Andrews has devoted himself to the development and continued excellence of the Pain Research Forum. PRF, which began as a joint project between the Harvard NeuroDiscovery Center and the MassGeneral Institute for Neurodegenerative Disease Informatics, has since become a vital place for the international pain research community to engage in an open exchange of information and ideas. Neil’s hard work and dedication to PRF and its mission – to foster discussion and collaboration that will speed the acquisition of new knowledge and its translation into novel treatments for chronic pain – cannot be understated. Neil’s impact on the field of pain research is indelible. The International Association for the Study of Pain and the Pain Research Forum community thank Neil for all of his work and wish him success as he pursues new projects.

Filling the role vacated by Neil will be Gregory Carbonetti. Greg achieved his PhD in molecular and cellular biology, with a concentration in immunology and pathology, from Stony Brook University on Long Island, New York. Working in the laboratories of Martin Kaczocha and Dale Deutsch, Greg conducted research on fatty acid binding proteins and the role of the endocannabinoid system in both pain relief and prostate cancer metastasis. More recently, Greg worked at the Alan Alda Center for Communicating Science as the Alda Civic Science Fellow in Chronic Pain within the Rita Allen Foundation’s Civic Science Fellows Program. The ultimate goal of Greg’s fellowship was to increase chronic pain awareness, engagement, and advocacy among the American public. Greg is excited to continue the development of the Pain Research Forum, and committed to maintaining its reputation as a quality source of scientific information and content.
